VEGA Folic Acid Capsules offer a high strength supplementation of Folic Acid.

Folic acid is a type of Vitamin B which has a role in several important processes in the body. It is a nutrient heavily involved in DNA synthesis and therefore supplementation to ensure adequate levels is extremely important in periods of rapid cell growth such as during foetal development.

Supplementation of adequate levels of folic acid (400 µg) at least one month before and up to at least three months after conception helps to optimise maternal folic acid levels which has been found to prevent neural tube defects in the developing foetus. This supplement is therefore recommended for females who are planning a pregnancy or who are in the early stages of pregnancy.

Folic acid is also known to contribute to normal blood formation and normal function of the immune system.

Folic acid and VEGA Vitamin B12 - Cyanocobalamin levels tend to decrease in those over 50 years of age and therefore supplementation of both vitamins is often recommended at the same time.
